About This Work

Fine Art Print of painting of a US Navy Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron THREE EC-130Q, BuNo 156177 at McChord, AFB on October 13th, 1988. Original in Patuxent River Naval Air Museum TACAMO Collection. The artist was a Naval Flight Officer (Nav/ACO) at VQ-3 from May 1986-May 1989 and lived this scene many times. The Flight Engineers and other crewmen are fueling the Herc, checking the engines and dressing the props, the Mission Commander is discussing security with the McChord, AFB Security Detail Lead, the other pilots are waiting at the van for the ACO and ACS before they head to Base Ops and the Comm Station. This was a short stop. About 12 hours later they will be in preflight, getting ready to take off and assume the mission.
