American Airlines 777 Landing at O'Hare
This is a 48" x 60" oil painting I did a couple of years ago as a retirement gift for a friend of mine. Ted was an American Airlines 777 Captain and Check Airman. This painting had to be perfect. Thankfully I was able to discuss this scene with another former American Airlines 777 Captain and get the details to make this painting as accurate as possible.. Flaps 10, Gear still up, at the Final Approach Fix for Runway 28C at O'Hare. I also used Google Earth to get the overall view and a sun angle calculator web site to get the position of the sun on the day Ted was to retire. This is the largest painting I have ever done.. The streets are meticulously researched. You can see the Ferris Wheel on Navy Pier.. The John Hancock building. Midway to the South, O'Hare to the North. Ted was the pilot who flew the 2005 Chicago White Sox to their World Series Games and flew them home after their victorious game 4. You can see him in the return video, posting the White Sox Flag through the Pilot's window of the 757 they were flying in at the time.
